Tell me a little about Disciples of the Blade. What can I expect?
Disciples of the Blade (DotB) is a WoW guild that arose from Tribes, Ultima Online, and Star Wars Galaxies. The guilds that fed the majority of our newly formed guild from SWG were The Trader’s Guild, Azur Akun, and Rogue Squadron from the Tarquinas server. Together, the World of Warcraft guild was formed in November of 2004. We started playing Rift in February of 2011 and also added SW:TOR to our ranks in December of 2011. We strive to become a leader for all future MMO guilds to hold a standard to. We are honorable players, and we will lead by example.
Disciples of the Blade is different. We are in this for the long-haul. While all applicants will receive a fair trial period, we will not accept every application for membership because we feel it is better to have a close group of mature, intelligent, and ambitious players that know each other & each other’s talents well than to have a large list of inactive guild members and useless accounts six months into the game. If your application leads us to believe that you are unsure about your decision to play the game, or can’t promise us a quality trait that we can put to use and will need for the betterment of the guild, then you will be politely thanked & shooed to the next “all-accepting” guild. Inactive members will be pruned from the guild after 3-4 months of inactivity unless leadership knows of their situation ahead of time. Here is the WoW Recruitment page if you believe you are ready.
What faction is DotB in WoW and what realm is the guild hosted on?
Alliance on Shattered Hand-US, a PVP server.
How old do I have to be to join DotB’s WoW guild?
Short answer: 18+. Long answer: Maturity is not a number, and we want mature players.
How long is the probationary period?
The probationary period is approximately 30 to 60 days, but this highly depends on your in-game and forum activity. Basically, if we have to ask who you are at the end of 60 days, it could take longer. If you’re super active and well-known, it might be less than 30.
Whats the process of applying?
There are a couple of ways to gain access to the DotB guild at this time, depending on where you are coming from and if you are already a DotB member. All members recruited are required to fill out a standard application. This is from whatever MMO they first joined DOTB on, if you done the application once, you do not have to do it again. If you are coming from outside of the DotB family and have no contact in-game, Please fill out and post an application here, and someone will invite you into vent for a small chat so we can get a feel for you, and you for us.
What are you currently recruiting?
Go to the WoW Recruitment page to find out if we are recruiting your class. The Recruiting Forums also often contains up to date information about the status of recruiting (look for a sticky topic at the top). Should there be a need to change what we are recruiting in the future; a separate thread will be made. This is simply a guideline for us, and not a straight answer for applicants.
If I am accepted into the WoW guild, Do I automatically gain entrance into the Rift or TOR Guild?
Short answer… Maybe. Please follow the application process for the game in question or talk to a senior DotB Officer whom will be able to advise and/or direct you.
How many members are currently in the WoW guild?
According to our /ginfo, on June 26, 2012, we have 626 guild members spread over 179 separate accounts.
Do you use a DKP system?
Yes. We use Eminent DKP currently in 25 mans. In 10 mans, we usually use a Need before Greed roll.
Information for Eminent DKP is found here (you just need to be logged in and a guild member to view it). The major goal of our DKP system is to keep loot distribution fair to veteran members and to newcomers alike. We feel that our system accomplishes this goal.
